Never Finishing a Thing
It's a truth about myself. I don't enjoy finishing things. I never have. Saying goodbye to people wasn't pleasant, but I could handle it. It just was never my favorite part about relationships. In the same way, I don't enjoy finishing things.
Life likes to give you casting changes, and plot changes, and even changes in tone from one minute to the next. I'm not talking about being manic here, it's just you can go from feeling one thing to the next in a second. It's your stark realization that your stomach is growling and you need to eat when you're just about to start something fun. Then it becomes an issue of timing, in terms of what you do when you finish eating.
I have always wanted to give writing a go, but before I can even get one idea down on paper I begin to expand on it quicker and quicker until I have no way of catching up. This method results in me forgetting a lot of what I was trying to build upon in the first place.
It is at this point of writing that I recall the Mortal Kombat franchise. I hated that game. Why? You reach the point where you have won the battle and yet the words "Finish Him" appear on the screen. I would try, but no matter the combination of buttons I hit, the finish would be nothing more than a backhanded slap. That's not the point of Mortal Kombat.
There you have it. My inability to finish in Mortal Kombat has resulted in me failing to finish anything today. I'm never going to go in for the kill and get that big sale, or get cast in that big spot, or even get the girl that's way out of my league. I'll probably just end up backhand slapping her and finding an awkward situation is about to get worse.
Moral of the story boys and girls, don't hit women. Leave them be. Unless they are going to beat your ass, or try to kill you. Then, defend yourself at all costs because you have as much right to live as them. Don't hit men either, unless they're doing one of those things I mentioned a woman doing where you should defend yourself. Or, if your career is in some type of physical combat, then feel free to bang away on your opponent. Just do it with honor.
See, I haven't even finished writing about the topic of point. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
